OGOR Memphis

How We Work

OGOR does not overlap any action. OGOR primarily focuses on assisting and supporting other North Memphis efforts. This includes helping those initiatives become more successful and innovative through the means of efficacy, publication, participation, and effective outreach.

However, when OGOR finds that a project will not be completed by a North Memphis group we take that as a call to action. OGOR then plans to implement that particular effort by the way of allies and stakeholders in and around the neighborhood.

In order to effectively prioritize our efforts, we assess the project based on impact. Cultural and community projects may take precedent over economic initiatives in order to foster a sense of community before taking collaborative action.

Education remains at the forefront, due to the lack of information on progressive neighborhood transformation. All efforts are critical in order to be successful.

We measure our success through comparative studies and observations by OGOR members and community representatives. Implementation of the community survey, monthly updates of crime, and observed positive community interactions all contribute to an amount of measurable success.

We don’t reinvent the wheel, we just make sure the wheel is rolling in our favor.
